"If a woman doubts as to whether she should accept a man or not, she certainly ought to refuse him. If she can hesitate as to 'Yes', she ought to say 'No' directly." (Emma Woodhouse in "Emma")
Well, isn't that true of many things!? Waffling can be a bad habit for some of us. A truthful "yes" or "no" right from the start can save a lot of trouble for people. If it is a hurtful answer, better to just get it over with and deal with the immediate pain rather than drag it out and hurt a person even more so. A short sharp pain is easier to get over than a prolongued wait that results in upset stomachs, stress headaches, and ultimately dashed hopes. A joyous answer should be shared immediately so everyone involved can do a little happy dance together.
Preach it Sister Austen!
In other news: the sun is shining merrily today, which means I HAVE to go out today and cut the lawn.....and spray some weeds....and do the banking I wussed out on yesterday. I can't hope for rain as the farmers around here don't want any for a few more days. A few of them are still finishing up seeding and need a break in the weather.
I am still exhausted but can't seem to sleep much. Woke up at 6am after a midnight start to my broken sleep, so got up and sorted the laundry. The first load is just finishing. We are going away again in a few days so have to time things like laundry and grass mowing in the most efficient manner. A great thing that is happening is that the grass seed Dell planted last summer is starting to grow properly. We thought it had died over the relatively snowless winter that left it exposed. The weed spraying I did last year was apparently sufficient to keep the dandelions in the front yard to a minimum and it won't take long to douse the few that survived with some of my favourite spray. The ants have not shown themselves quite yet but I have two huge containers of ant killer awaiting their arrival. I am armed and dangerous this year so watch out weeds and ants. Think of a really chubby Sylvestor Stallone type! Grrrr!!! Take that.....and that, you ants and weeds!!
Oooh boy am I tired............
