Something kinda cool is happening since my diabetes diagnosis. Over the past year, as my lab test results have improved and weight has come off, all as a result of following the instructions of my diabetes medical team, an informal group of friends has begun to form as they have also started to follow similar diet and exercise plans in order to deal with their own health issues.
At this time there are 6 of us who are working more or less together to set up personal health goals over the next few months. Our little group spans 3 provinces and our intent is to encourage each other as we go along on rather similar journeys. Among us we represent types 1 and 2 diabetes, glucose intolerance, heart irregularities and hypertension.
It is good to have support during times of health stress. It is wonderful to be able to encourage each other, asking questions and exchanging information. Another bonus is the deepening of our friendships. It is all good.
