Wow, we woke up at 6:30am to a raging lightning and thunder storm! The sky was so dark when the alarm went off that I thought we had set it accidently for 2am!! The thunder claps and stinging rain continued until just before 8am but the wind has continued to howl and we are scheduled for more storms this afternoon and evening.
The loud thunder rivaled the huge pops and bangs and crashes of last night's fireworks that went off in the park right across from the front of our unit. What a spectacular show! We have no idea what the sponsoring event was though. One thing I can say for the park event planners here in Regina is that no expense is spared on fireworks! This is the third excellent display we have experienced this summer.
We are so fortunate to live right here where we do. With our unit facing the park we can often watch the fireworks just the way we did last night: from inside our own living room, interior lights out, blinds drawn all the way up, safe from the mosquitoes outside. Last night the display was set off particularly close to our place so it was like having our own private show. We both LOVE fireworks and they happened between 9:15pm and 9:40pm so no one needing to get to bed early for work had his sleep disrupted...ergo, my husband! hahaha
It was an exciting end to an especially happy day off work!
