Yup, I'm at it again this morning, but with good reason.
I just returned from my doctor's appointment with all kinds of good news!
I got another treatment on that dumb wart, but she really burned it well this time and it is possible that will be the end of the thing! She saw a particularly scaly spot on the end of one toe that could harbour the beginnings of a wart also, so it got a good dose of liquid nitrogen as well.
Then came the best news: my test results from last week's lab were sent to her last Thursday all ready, but I didn't get a call because there was NO reason to call me!! My kidney function is back to normal! My cholesterol has plummeted back into its perfect range. My A1C has dropped another two tenths of a point. We decided that although I am experiencing some of the muscle aches and pains that can be side effects of the statin, so far the only hassle involves the muscles around my hip hardware that took the longest to recover after surgery, so I will try to just cope with that until I find out in July if the osteoporosis drug causing the rise in cholesterol is working or not. If not, I will be coming off it immediately and the statin as well.
AND: the most FANTASTIC news of all is that I will no longer be required to have diabetes testing every 3 to 6 months. Unless or until a problem arises, I will only be tested annually for kidneys and A1C. Only the cholesterol will be tested twice a year.
I admit it. I hobbled back to the car, put my burnt foot up on the dashboard for a minute to give it a rest and burst into tears of happiness.
Now that I know I have a full year before my next diabetes test I will be extra diligent about my diet and exercise to ensure I don't get lazy and drive my blood sugar up again. It is a bit daunting to realize the checks and balances of the every three month and six testing that have been keeping me in line have now been removed. Thank you Lord that dietary exercise and discpline have become a regular part of my lifestyle. Thank you, thank you thank you and thank you too for all my family and friends who pray for me regularly and are so caring and concerned.
I am blessed.
