Today’s Adventures Have Finally Come To An End! (#3 Final Installment)

We both collapsed when we finally arrived home just after 5:30pm. It didn’t take long for us both to be napping. 💤

However, by 6:30pm my husband was getting antsy to get outside and going again, groan….REALLY? WTH? “How about a slice of pizza for dinner? It’s only a 7 block walk to a place we can sit down in to eat!” (a near miracle as most of our area’s pizza joints are take out, but he found what he wanted)

Complaining the whole time, I grudgingly dragged my pooped out self off the sofa and got ready to go. Aaaargh!

However, I found myself enjoying the walk in the growing darkness and we did indeed have a large room of tables to sit at with our giant pizza slices: thin crust spinach and artichoke for my husband and deep dish chicken and onion for me.

After dinner we felt energized so walked a couple of blocks more to Trader Joe’s for some milk and spritzers to carry the six blocks home. We talked about how when we first arrived that little walk seemed so very far and difficult to navigate when carrying cartons of spritzers and milk jugs home with us. Now it seems barely like a walk at all, whew, how great that we are in such better shape than when we arrived just over three weeks ago…..BUT back at home we will likely start losing fitness ground again. The only pretty walk there is crowded and covered by people walking their dogs, all of us dodging clumps of goose poo the full way along the route. We only have one grocery store within achievable walking distance from our place, it is only open until 8pm and as soon as the sun goes down it is not safe to walk there, not safe to walk anywhere in our neighbourhood after dark. Big sigh…..

I have always wanted to go somewhere on a holiday and stay for an entire month to see what it would be like. Turns out in New York City, it is quite wonderful! Yay!
