Maybe This Will Be Our Last Trip Southward!

Today we have been putting apps on phones and filling out preliminary customs forms to be completed when we land in Toronto so we can be in the "short"(er?) lineup to clear US Customs and Immigration.  We have to remember tomorrow to also request that an electronic I-94 be submitted that we will be able to access on their website when we arrive at our hotel, so we can print off a copy to carry with us at all times.  This app, if it works, for being able to be in the shorter line for USCI is handy dandy. Praying it works so that we don't have to miss our connecting flight to NYC.

We are pretty much all packed up now and our carry on bags are sitting by the door all ready to go, our taxi for the morning has been booked, keys delivered to the friends watering our plants and checking our place while we are away, a last minute package mailed to our kids through the post office after locating the necessary new "mailing out of country" customs and duty forms online and taking that info to the post office.  We are armed now with good information at last on how to send a small gift to the US to our kids and it isn't difficult actually.  We are learning more about what requires payment of tariffs and what does not, what can still and can no longer be mailed utilizing Canada Post, the maximum amount of a gift that can be mailed without having to pay duty....the website for Canada Post is a wealth of good information.

What we have mostly learned in preparing for this trip is that we can only continue to travel internationally if we are determined not to be mentally lazy.  There is so much more involved than there used to be, so we old geezers have the option of either liking or lumping it! This time we have chosen to "like it"!!
