Today's Update

It has been a great day thus far, despite a bit of freezing mist this morning and all day grey sky and chilly air.

I got brave about the possibility of even more freezing mist or rain and headed out at 9am to pick up my friend for our weekly morning coffee visit.  We couldn't figure out why our usually "dead as a duck" coffee bar was packed so full this morning that we were most fortunate to get the last free table and two chairs in the place.  The grocery stores I went to afterwards were just as crowded and silly me was unable to figure out why until I picked up my husband after shopping and took him out for his favourite Bonzzini's lunch special, again to a space packed out with people, and the server reminded us that tomorrow is Good Friday, so all the businesses and restaurants around town will either be closed or operating on greatly reduced hours. hahaha What kind of priest and his wife are we?  Can't put two and two together about our own religious holidays???!!! hahaha Duh.......  Good thing we got our water jugs refilled and most of our groceries purchased yesterday!  We would have found ourselves somewhat out of luck if we had waited until tomorrow! hahaha

I have the daily update on our dear hospitalized friend, so since so many of you have indicated you are praying for her, I will share it once again.  Here it is below:

Today we continue with great news.
Most importantly she has graduated out of the ICU! She will soon be on unit. Also, she has been asked to stand and try walk to her chair. While weak, she was able to do so albeit slightly wobbly!!! So I am hoping to encourage her to be up in a chair for all meals. I Expect her eager for wheelchair adventures soon!

Starting back at the lungs: the CT confirmed great progress. She does continue to have some residual pneumonia but they are confident in her body can deal with that on its own. She continues to be on the nasal prongs, but I am hoping that as she is up in a chair and up walking more, her oxygen needs will decrease quickly.

Her mind is clearing up so nicely. The confusion is definitely decreased today. She recognized and named her SF grandchildren easily this afternoon for the first time!

Her kidneys continue to be her weak spot. This mornings bloodwork is pending. Sounds like they are fine with her having today off dialysis. Will re-evaluate tomorrow! She is making more urine today so that’s so encouraging. She continues to eat anything she wants and is getting enough nutrition. So glad.

No new strange rhythms with her heart so ICU was happy for that and the cardiologist will be following up with studies. They do say she is on a med to help her rate/rhythm stable.

Her bloodwork continues to show higher white blood cells but not in the serious range. They will keep a close eye there. The other lab work shows she is infection free. What an answer to prayer.

Grace upon Grace upon Grace. We are so thankful for each milestone she is flying past. Each of your prayers is making such a difference.
