Finally was able to complete task number 3 in regard to the CRA just before dinner this evening....and it only took an hour! hahaha The hold up is that in order to have access to the account, for security you either have to apply for a special code to use each time you want access, which takes about 10 days to arrive in the mail, OR you can take a photo of a piece of ID and a selfie on your mobile phone and send that it for immediate access. Aiii yiiii....we tried and tried to use the photos method so we wouldn't have to wait ten days for access to our info to do our taxes online, as that would be pushing it for the time deadline, BUT, oh no, of course the photo method didn't work for us. We couldn't seem to get the photos centred properly so after three attempts with the website refusing all three, we gave up and applied for the code to be sent...by email as apparently it could show up a couple of days sooner than snail mail. (To be honest I don't actually trust the mail delivery service to get the info into my mail box within that 10 day timeline.) The worst part about not having the photos accepted is that fiddling about with that method caused the website to time out all three times and we had to begin the process all over again from the beginning....ALTHOUGH that meant I got lots of practise using the ID's and passwords that FINALLY got accepted once my husband discovered the privacy settings on my computer were responsible for the passwords I created not being accepted. hahaha Oh dear Lord above, what would I do without my husband to help me do all things computer????
So, even if it takes the full ten days to get my code, I will still have the better part of a week to get my taxes done and filed. hahaha What a crazy day. Glad it is over, to be honest!
