Precious Gift

Like any day that includes an afternoon nap, today was a very good day with beautiful hot, sunny, breezy summer weather, lunch with a church friend, a nice Indian buffet dinner with my husband and an evening of exercising while catching up on a boxing match recorded last weekend. I am happy to finally be back to a full hour of exercise after dinner in the evenings. FINALLY!!!

In the mail today we received a lovely gift from Island friends.  They worked together to make us each a lap quilt.  They are quite lovely quilts, long and wide enough to cover our legs and feet this winter when we are sitting in our chilly living room reading, watching tv and visiting, but they are not bulky and hot like full sized quilts and blankets are. Mine has a cafe street scene included on several panels and my husband's is made of lovely orange, teal and brown strips of various patterns that remind him of lovely Indian saris.  Thank you friends. It was incredibly thoughtful to send us homemade quilts you obviously put a lot of work into.

And so it is only 9:30pm but my husband is all ready in bed reading himself to sleep.  He had a ridiculously busy and unpredictable week at work and tomorrow is a day long finance committee meeting to set the final budget for the coming year.  Hopefully he will survive until his next day off from work....maybe September 17th?  It was one of those weeks when he didn't know if the Enemy was at work to ruin and discourage or if God was at work to prevent success for his own purposes.  Just a very weird and tiring week....my husband has the most wonderful attitude about it all though. He is teetering on the edge of a serious chronic fatigue syndrome episode and yet is managing to stave off the beginnings of the worst symptoms.  I am proud of him and very grateful to God that thus far all is well.
