1. Pastor Joel is home from the hospital and is taking blood thinners to try to prevent the formation of more blood clots while his body is struggling to absorb the clots that felled him last week. Not sure what his recovery and return to work schedule is, but the church is blessed with many former pastors, theology professors and missionaries who are skilled at preaching, so the pulpit supply at least is not in any danger. Praying he will not take on too much too soon.
2. Approximately one hour ago, Cee began his first IV chemotherapy treatment for his lymphoma. He will go to the hospital twice a week to start with. Please pray that he and Nan have a good two hour round trip drive from their home to the hospital and back. Please pray for safe driving for them over the next few weeks, particularly if any snow and ice appear before he stops the IV chemo and begins the pill regimen. While his side effects from this particular cocktail of drugs should be minimal, he is understandably worried about that.
3. Since I mentioned my recurring problem with my old sleep disorder and people have been praying for me, I am conscious of being more relaxed and subsequently had an excellent nap yesterday afternoon and a refreshing LONG sleep last night. Thank you.....
4. Tomorrow DeeDee has her appointment with the surgeon and oncologist to receive more information about removing her tumour and what will happen next. She was surrounded by love and support at church on Sunday, so she seemed cheered by that. One of her family members is making a nearly three hour drive into town to take her to her appointment and then some of the rest of us will try to put together a driving schedule when she has to go for chemo or radiation treatments. She is so independent, but does realize she can't go through hospital treatments and then be riding the transit bus home! haha She is a fighter, that is for sure.
