Just Slightly Envious

I have to confess the teensiest tad of envy directed toward neighbours in one of the other buildings in our court who are in the process of moving out of here. They are getting out before the next freezing rain and snowfall predicted for early next week. They are getting out before the arrival of the next onslaught of returning geese and their never ending deposits of poo on the lawn. They are getting out before the gophers and rats and spiders make their spring appearances. They are getting out before their building becomes so needful of repairs it is unsafe for habitation.

I have not formally met this woman and her daughter, although they have lived in our court for a couple of years, but we have smiled and nodded and exchanged the occasional pleasantry in passing. So, I certainly don’t have the right to go bouncing over there to ask them where they are going. (or if they will puleeeeeeeze take us with them) Maybe if I knew the details of their lives I would not be so tempted to feel envious. Maybe this is not a happy move......although just getting out of this broken down old complex would have to be some kind of positive in my opinion.

Whatever is precipitating their move, I hope they are going somewhere wonderful that brings them much happiness in the future. Maybe at this time next year it will be OUR turn to make a break for it!

Penelope phoned again this morning. She was all ready feeling well enough after yesterday’s surgery to get going on the physio exercises for her joint replacement! Pretty cool! She told me a cute joke: A little boy asked his grandmother how many years old she was. She replied that she was 73. “Oh!”, her grandson responded. “And did you start at one?” hahaha Cute!

Did you sign a lease for another year or are you just mot finding better, more affordable housing?
Great news about your friend!

The rental situation continues to be dismal here. To save enough money to make a move worthwhile we would have to downsize to a drastic point due to losing almost all our storage space we have here and would be stuck in a much smaller apartment. To get another town house situation with a basement and some outdoor space we would be paying as much or more. I think another year here, getting through the pandemic, hopefully, then having freedom to look for a place, not possible with the government of SK edicts to keep safe right now, will work better than movingJune 1. We can't get into any places to check them out. Our lease expires the end of May, the new lease has been drawn up until end of May next year, but we have not yet received our copy for signing. Just waiting for that. Uf God does something fabulous and unexpected between now and the end of May, cool, otherwise we will hunker down here for another year.
