The Moving MerryGoRound!

Mom and her moving situation: the plot thickens! hahaha

Mom woke up at 5am today with her brain whirring and hatching a plot over this possible move to a new, less expensive suite.  She spent some time with her bank statements and calculator...please remember my amazing mom is 92 years old and has left the stressful paperwork details to my dad for most of their marriage....and by 9am was on the phone to her bank.

The short version is that she is indeed going to move to the bachelor suite coming open on April 1st!  By the time she was done calculating and talking to the bank and rental agents for her facility, she is now going to save exactly twice as much money per month as she was going to be saving at this time yesterday!  hahaha What a woman!!  So very proud of her for taking on this project in the middle of all the stress she has been under with Dad and getting her taxes ready etc.

So, we will be going to stay at her facility for a week before she moves.  We can help her measure her present furniture to see what will fit in the new place, and buy her a new bed and linens and arrange delivery for her.  We will take our moving dolly and get the furniture and other items she is keeping moved for her. She has all ready arranged for her favourite "moving seniors is our specialty" company to take her other furniture to auction.  We will spend a week helping her get rid of the rest of the items she can't take to the new place.  Her last words to me this morning were, "I think you will REALLY like this suite. It is bright and cheery and I get to keep the full sized refrigerator from the previous tenant!"

For ourselves, there couldn't be a better time during this busy season of Lent and Easter to be away from here and get her moved.  Incredible timing...thank you Lord!

Dad will absolutely not believe her news when she goes to see him today. Yesterday he was in total agreement that it wasn't worth the effort and stress and loss of space for her to move right now for such a small saving.  He is in for a shock today! hahaha She has arranged it all without his having any say in the matter and is quite proud of herself.  He will adjust once she explains to him how she was able to make things work. hahaha  He is going to be absolutely stunned by her abilities.YAY MOM!  We can trust Dad to be fully supportive of her choice once he finds out how much she is now saving and that we will be there for such a long time to help her out.  He is good to her that way, always has been.  He will be proud of her for setting all this up on her own.

I feel a lightness of spirit today now that everything is in motion for Mom and for our trip there later this month.  AND BONUS: for once we will be able to celebrate my husband's birthday and our anniversary in the "big city" and do something really special for a change. There will be no church meetings or retreats or other work related issues to get in the way of our own celebration as there has been almost every year in the past 15!  YIPPEE!!

It will be nice to go to prayer meeting this afternoon with something positive to rejoice about for prayer answers instead of just a list of requests!

AND the sun is shining today AND we both slept in this morning after a quiet night of decent sleep!  BONUS!!
